Perfect Your Writing with My Help

Testimonials

From Kelvin Taylor, postgraduate student in Monash Business School

Christina was highly recommended to me by a colleague and I will certainly be doing the same for any colleagues or friends that need exceptional, professional editing services. Christina did an exemplary job editing my final PhD thesis and I cannot thank her enough for her caring and prompt service throughout the stressful submission process. The regular consultation to ensure the right level and style of editing and formatting for each manuscript speaks to the attention to detail and quality of the service provided. I highly recommend her services, thank you again Christina!

From Zouhir Gabsi, senior lecturer in Arabic and Islamic studies, Deakin University

I am excited to share my heartfelt testimony about the extraordinary work of Christina Houen. Working with Christina for the last few years has been an absolute pleasure and has significantly transformed my writing journey. In short, my success in research owes much to her commitment and dedication.

Christina demonstrated an unmatched devotion to understanding the essence of my work. She took the time to dig deep into the intricacies of my writings, offering valuable insights and constructive feedback that truly elevated the quality of my writing, and ensured acceptance in some of the highest and most competitive journals.

Her attention to detail not only improved the overall flow of the narrative but also enhanced the readability of the text. She left hardly any little stone unturned. Her promptness and speed in providing feedback have been key factors in getting my work published in a timely manner.

From Mehdi Taheri, a PhD candidate in Architectural History
Working with Christina during the final stages of my PhD journey was an absolute delight. Her efficiency, flexibility, accuracy, and resourcefulness were exactly what I needed as I approached the submission deadline. I also appreciated her commitment to maintaining my writing style/tone while skillfully enhancing its clarity and coherence, all within the university’s copyediting guidelines and principles. My experience with Christina was very positive, and I am confident in recommending her service to fellow HDRs without hesitation.

From Alexandre Faustino, PhD student in School of Global, Social and Urban Studies, RMIT

I wanted to say a huge thank you for your dedicated and fast work on my thesis, I was very happy with your inputs and how it elevated the final writing. Again, I really appreciate you taking the work in such a constrained timeline!

From Professor Bin Ai of Foreign Studies in Shanghai

Dr Christina is a very experienced editor, and her comments are insightful and effective. She is always there, as a patient reader and a reliable gatekeeper.  She has helped me to publish over thirty journal articles with top publishers such as Routledge, Sage, and De Gruyter, and I am very grateful for her timely support and professional editing.

From Loraine Saunders, author

To get my Australian memoir (working title) On an Outback Sheep Station near Oodnadatta Track up to publication scratch, I feel incredibly lucky to have found Christina. She really did develop my memoir to its full potential by highlighting all kinds of gaffs from grating over-writing to clunky repetition, also inappropriate language and so on. She was excellent at showing just where the story needed to go and where I had succeeded in producing good scenes and effective dialogue etc. I cannot thank Christina enough for a truly epic edit (and here, she might want to correct that last awkward alliteration!).

From author of a self-help book:

Christina is professional and quick. She is elegant and thoughtful and very detailed in her work. Her work was exactly what I was looking for. I am so glad I picked her to edit my manuscript before self-publishing my first book.

From a memoir writer, Joy Rocha, MA

Christina’s education and experience saw me through my first memoir. She was patient, professional, and available to me whenever I was stressed over the process. This memoir was a challenge to me. I believe that I couldn’t have accomplished it without her. I hope to have her as my editor if I ever write another book.

From Fang Lee Cooke, Professor of Human Relations Management and Asia Studies at Monash University

Christina has copy edited over 50 manuscripts that I have (co)authored in the past 3 years and 20 plus more for my colleagues and students. Christina impresses us with the great efficiency, excellent value, and very considerate approach of her work. I highly recommend her.

From Kevin Bradley, PhD student in architecture, author of a thesis on prison architecture

I suspect that I am like many who find their way to Christina Houen, not having relied on the services of a professional editor before. I was completing my PhD and Christina was recommended through a colleague in the field of design. It was a timely and valuable recommendation, as Christina’s editing assisted to clarify arguments and keep my grammar in check. The student’s situation can feel fraught when you are completing a large research project, with shifting timeframes; Christina’s empathy helped me through.

From Jesse John Fleay, Noongar constitutional expert and author of a PhD thesis, A Model for an Australian Republic with a First Nations Voice:

Christina took on what was a very niche area in PhD theses when editing my work, meticulously analysed and corrected structure, grammar and demonstrated the benchmark for clarity in communication through her years of experience as a writer. I’m glad I found the best editor for my particular project and would recommend her services to anyone, especially in academia and government.

From Doug Limbrick, successful author of several non-fiction books:

In September (2021) Christina edited the manuscript for my latest book (a biography). It was a pleasure working with her. The edits she suggested for the document, which contained a considerable amount of detailed historical information, were invaluable. She found those errors that us writers miss and hence the final product benefited greatly from her input. Christina was very quick but thorough, friendly and professional and she made some very supportive comments about the story I had written (which I greatly appreciated).

The book I worked on for Doug is a study of S.T. Gill, the famous colonial artist in 19th century Australia. I’m looking forward to seeing it in print. It is a fascinating bio-history and full of beautiful images. Doug’s most recent published work, Death Ships, is shortlisted for NSW Premier’s non-fiction prize.

From a woman who completed her PhD in Creative Writing and passed with an A

Trying to complete my PhD whilst on maternity leave with newborn twins was challenging to say the least. I needed to engage the services of a proofreader who did not need any hand holding or to ask a million questions, but rather was supremely skilled, able to turn around requests quickly and understood the point of my exegesis and creative work. The quality of Christina’s work was above and beyond my expectations. She not only proofread complicated creative writing pieces, but pointed out sections where I had strayed and underlined inconsistencies I had missed despite reading the document hundreds of times myself. I strongly recommend all PhD Candidates, especially those in the literary studies field who think they don’t need the services of a proofreader, to engage Christina for their project. She was the perfect combination of experience, precision and moral support I needed to complete my doctoral project. Thank you Christina, for everything!

From an academic architect who achieved his PhD:

Christina and I worked together in 2017 on the written component of my creative practice PhD dissertation. Without Christina’s input and guidance, I can honestly say I would never have been able to complete the doctorate. Christina is a master of language and academic writing. Her conduct is utterly professional, she offers constructive feedback and commentary at all times and is even able to accommodate fast turn arounds when given adequate notice. I could not recommend Christina’s abilities highly enough to anyone looking for a copy editor in the fields of arts, architecture and creative practice.

From a newbie fiction writer, Cara Rodoreda, author of Over the Edge

Christina has been a wonderful editor; not only is she fast and efficient, but her feedback is very clear and detailed. If you want your work to shine and to be ready for publishing, do not hesitate to contact Perfect Words Editing.

From  published memoirist, Timothy Spokes, author of In My Grandfather’s Garden: The Hidden Gifts of Dyslexia, Difference and Death

I wanted an editor who would focus on improving my work rather than complimenting me. And I found this person in Christina. Somehow, she managed to get inside my head. And when I received her comments and suggested changes, I felt as though she were sitting there beside me and had understood the essence of my story

From Terry Morris, author of Wizard Island: Child of the Orb

You’ll never know the anxiety I felt while awaiting your initial response to my manuscript. When it came, your reaction was so spectacular I thought you must have been talking about someone else’s work. I can only hope that the end result is somewhere near your expectations.
