My third memoir, A Gradual Grace, is now available as an audiobook on Spotify and other channels. It has been beautifully produced by an editor colleague, AJ Collins.

It is a follow-up to my first two memoirs: the first one, This Place You Know, tells the story of my childhood in my voice and my mother’s. My father abandoned his farm and his family when I was 8 years old, and for the next 7 years, my mother kept the farm going with my help and that of my brothers when they were home on holidays. We lived on a marginal farm on the Murrumbidgee River, Hay plains. We had no power, no phone, and sometimes over the years, no vehicle other than a horse and sulky and “shanks’ pony”. My father came back when I was away at boarding school, and turned my mother off the property so he could sell it. At age 58, she had to start again, returning to teaching, and for some years, we had no home of our own. So it is a story of broken dreams, hardship, resilience and survival… a woman’s story.

My second memoir, A Practice of Loss, tells the story of the breakdown of my first marriage and the loss of my three young daughters, who were abducted by their father. They were separated from me for the rest of their childhood, and had to survive in a blended family where they were abused in many ways. Because of my circumstances and the way the Family Law was at that time, I had no power to get them back. It was only when they grew up that they were able to connect with me for more than the statutory two weeks twice a year.

How did I survive this catastrophe? How did we manage to keep our love alive and to keep belief in the possibility of forgiveness and redemption? That is the story of A Gradual Grace.

If any readers would like to listen to the audiobook, it is just over 4 hours’ listening, in chapters. It is already available on Spotify, Barnes and Noble, GooglePlay, Booktopia and others, and soon will be available on Audible and Amazon.
